Village chiefs for revoke of PR

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 13 (MExN): The Village Chiefs Federation of Nagaland conveyed strong condemnation on the imposition of President Rule in Nagaland by “the power mongering people at the helm of government in New Delhi.” The press release issued by the Founder & Advisor Village Chief Federation of Nagaland, T. T. Angami stated that the Federation is also ‘aggrieved with deep regret to note that bringing of non-Nagas’ who have no idea on the way of living of the Naga people, as advisors to the Governor ‘to rule over the state’s affairs and govern the people .’ The Federation added that this was a disregard of democracy and the constitutional rights and privileges of the Naga people. “India is known as the biggest democracy in the world and it is most unbecoming and unfortunate to note that the power mongering politicians at the helm of the Government had to forcefully impose PR on the Naga people at the cost of the Constitution of India and the democratic rights of the peace loving Naga people” hit out the release.

The Federation insisted upon the Government of India to immediately withdraw the President Rule from the state and allow the mandated Government according to the law to continue governance of the state without any further delay. The release further cautioned that the Naga people should not be taken for granted by the Government of India and not be treated as second class citizens and ‘we cannot be fooled by such treatment anymore’. It added that in the event of failure to comply with their demand, the Naga village chiefs would no longer remain silent spectators but work for justice till the end.
