Village Guards appeal to Govt

DIMAPUR OCT 17 (MExN): In a letter to the Additional Chief Secretary & Commissioner, Kohima, the Village Guards of Kiphire, Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Phek disagreed to the posting of VG officers on deputation continuing from the order to be posted at five district ‘who do not know the way of living faced by the VGs.’

The VGs felt that inspite of their representation regarding the matetr for the last 10 years or so, there has so far been no action from the Nagaland government. “Even unfitness/irregularity towards their duties has badly exploited our VG’s organization and we the VGs of above given five districts are basically disturbed. Our rule is to maintain law and order in our region” stated the President and General Secretary of Kiphire VGs Association.

They also added “We are deeply concerned to our pride and prestige of the department. Therefore, a priority for posting our experienced Regional Officers at the head of the office must be given, so that the vast experience of the region may have full of pride and generosity and that may be utilized positively for the department”

They have requested the high authorities to look into the matter unrgently and respond positively so that ‘exploitation’ of the VGs is stopped and be prevented from future occurance.
