Vincent, Utd. Brothers share 1st Federation Cup

    Morung Express News Mokokchung | August 24   The winning trophy of the 1st Federation Cup Super 8 Day/Night tournament organized by the Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation was shared between Vincent and United Brothers.   The final match was disrupted due to unfavourable weather condition. The first innings was played without any hitches with Vincent scoring 57 runs in 8 overs. However the teams struggled in the second innings due to fog and mist in the ground making it immensely difficult to play.   After waiting for more than an hour for the weather condition to improve, the teams, match officials and the organizing committee decided on discontinuing the match and the winning trophy was shared between the two finalists.   The teams won cash prize, a running trophy and certificates. Individual prizes were also given out during the closing ceremony. The Man of the series was bagged by Merenkaba of United Brothers while Tejasol from Vincent and Moatemshi from Titans claimed the Best Batsman and Best Bowler respectively.   Altogether 12 teams participated in the first ever day and night super 8 tournament. The night matches were a treat for the cricket fans of Mokokchung. The organizers added that organizing night matches was the first time in the cricket history of Mokokchung and they plan to organize the Federation cup every year.
