Voluntary blood donation campaign in Kohima, Dimapur

Marking the World Blood Donor Day, the Voluntary Blood Donors Association (VBDA), Kohima in collaboration with Assam Rifles Kohima battalion supported by Blood Bank of Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) undertook a voluntary blood donation campaign at NHAK on June 14.

Addressing a brief function, Nagaland’s Health & Family Welfare Director, Dr K Vikato Kinimi stated that due to the pandemic, blood donors have drastically declined. He appreciated those donors who at this difficult time also come forward to donate blood. He said that giving one’s blood to save human being is the greatest thing a person can contribute on earth. He further encouraged the concern department, Assam Rifles Kohima battalion and the different organisations to keep up their noble service to save lives.

Earlier, Dr Avila, Medical Officer, Blood Bank NHAK delivered keynote address. Major Abhishek of ARKohima Battalion said that they are privileged to be a part of this noble cause and further applauded for inviting and giving them an opportunity to be of some help to the state and to the patients.

Altogether, 13 persons donated blood on the first day of the campaign, which will continue till June 19.

Meanwhile, VBDA Kohima has requested the concerned citizens to walk in to respective nearest blood bank anywhere and donate blood at their convenient day and time.

The time for blood donation at Naga Hospital is from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Dimapur: To mark the World Blood Donors Day, Muslim youths of Dimapur under the banner of Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) donated 35 units of blood to the Dimapur Blood Bank in District Hospital.

The president of MCD, A Rahman in a press note said, “It has been observed that there is a growing demand of blood during this pandemic and the Blood Bank is facing acute shortage of Blood and as such it has inspired the MCD to organise this blood donation camp. This donation may help the needy to some extent.”

Rahman also said that this is the first time the Muslim youths have donated in an organised camp though they have been donating under Red Cross and other organizations.
