Dimapur, September 23 (MExN): Walford Area Council in Dimapur today expressed strong displeasure at reports that Walford Colony is to be renamed as “northern Angami colony.” The council issued note today stating that the Walford Area Council is recognized by the government of Nagaland since 1990 and has been functioning with equal representation of all Naga and other communities in the colony.
“Therefore any change in the nomenclature of the area shall be possible only by the decision of the council. The council also would like to state that the Walford area general public meeting was held on 26. 6. 2010 and resolved that there will be no change in the nomenclature of the colony sine die,” the council said. The council has requested all organizations and individuals to respect the sentiment of the colony’s people and not attempt to change the nomenclature of the area.
