NPF spokesperson Achumbemo Kikon today said the present conflict is neither party conflict nor a party crisis, saying “We call it as a party hiccup.”
Addressing a press conference here at NPF central office, he stated, “This party no matter how hard the storm is we will sail through.” He also clarified that the foundation of the NPF party is not to serve an individual interest.
“This is not to fulfil the desire and aspiration of some few vested interest people,” he said. On allegation of Rio-led NPF that Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu ran away from floor test, Kikon charged there was connivance between the Governor and “this group” (Neiphiu Rio and TR Zeliang group), adding that the Governor cannot be allowed to play like this. “That is constitutional chair. That is constitutional position to safeguard the interest of everyone and not few group/not few individuals.” We strongly denounce such kind of action of Governor, he added.
The Spokesperson continued that when any minister or head of the government is removed or asked to remove, it is because he has done some mischief “either corruption or immorality or some other mischievous things.”
He termed the situation as “very amazing,” saying “Here is a situation where our chief minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu at that point of time decided to run a clean government, decided to check all sort of corruptions, decided to ensure that we give good governance to the citizens of Nagaland then majority of MLAs decided to desert him. Is that the way the Naga future should continue? No. We cannot allow such things. This is very unique situation.” If he is proven guilty of some other immorality or some other corruption, Kikon said, “yes, they have every right to desert him and form a new government but there was no such.”
Being the president of the party and having got the opportunity to serve as CM of Nagaland, “I think he (Shürhozelie) has moral responsibility to ensure that…there should be at least a semblance of governance and there should be clean governance that is how he has regulated in term of attendance in government office,” he added.
Kikon maintained that the whole governance system was improved to a large extent, adding “when we could see some improvement in the governance, when we could see corruption are being checked but the responsible elected members deciding to deserve such a leader what more comment can we make.”
NPF central vice president Zaku Tsükru meanwhile said NPF party is solely for the political cause of the Naga people, for the interest of the Naga people and not for power or money.
Stating that NPF has expelled all the 34 MLAs and indiscipline party workers, he stated, they are no longer member of the NPF and they have no right to claim NPF as their party.
“Let the Naga public know from today onward never say that Neiphiu Rio and TR Zeliang group are NPF member. They are party less men and party less workers,” he said.
“They cannot now claim to be member of NPF. We have expelled them all.” NPF central vice president Pusazo Luruo was also present at the press conference.
