WASA sports meet ends with vision call

Kohima | January 15 : The 50th Anniversary of Western Angami Sports Association (WASA), culminated today at WAPO Ground, Sechu, Zubza with MLA & Advisor, IT & C, Er. Vikho-o Yhoshu gracing the closing function as the chief guest. The five day event was held under the theme “Enhance your vision from the past”. Along with Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker, Kiyanilie Peseyie, hundreds of crowd witnessed the most exciting wrestling match where Rokosielie Khawakhrie of Mezoma village was declared winner in the wrestling while Mhasilhoushie Nagi of Jotsoma occupied the second place. The winners were awarded with a cash of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 7000 respectively. Khonoma village emerged overall champion in the five days event.
With the fast changing world in every aspect, Yhoshu urged upon the people to cope with the fast altering affairs and to be prepared “to respond to the situation”. Basing on the theme, Yhoshu also appealed to look to the future with a difference and challenged the players to look beyond Angami sports, be it state or national.
He was appreciative of the players, stating that the players have exhibited true sportsmanship and said for winners “It is the beginning of your journey”, while the losers should not be disheartened as participation matters the most in sports.
He also urged the wrestlers to upgrade the level of game and also called upon the players to live the testimonial life, “Live to the best and let truth win over Evil”, said Yhoshu.
Altogether 17 disciplines were played during the five days long event and the 50th year celebration concluded with a folk song presented by Alder club Khonoma that was followed by community feast.
Meanwhile the organizers extended heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Music Task Force (MTF), 78 CRPF Sechu Zubza and 20 AR Medziphema for their unflinching support and help throughout the event .
