Water & sanitation campaign concludes successfully

Kohima: The Nagaland Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) under the incentive of Water and Sanitation Support Organisation (WSSO) PHED today concluded with Er. KG Sumi, Director WSSO,PHED as the chief guest at Conclave Hall, LCS Building, Kohima after a weeklong awareness of National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Week in Nagaland.

Addressing the function, K.G Sumi said that the GOI had taken up the awareness camping for a weeklong, which concluded toady. Nagaland had covers 90 percent and above of the rural areas of each household through awareness, IEC camping and media coverage. He also added that students should concentrate on their study, respect their teachers, and become a nation leader with high aim so he or she can make any program a success.
 
Er.P.Jakpou Khiamniungan, EE Kohima (Rural) PHED, chaired the program, invocation by Chuba Lam, Youth Director KBC Kohima and Azenuo Zumvü presented special number.

Altogether, 24 schools and 70 students participated the essay competition under the topic ‘Conservation of Water and Good Sanitary Practices.’ Ponthungo Odyuo of class-X from Mezhür Higher secondary school was awarded 1st position, Dolly Quinger of class-IX from Dainty Buds school and Jyoti of class-X from Baptist High Mission Compound were awarded 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The Department also awarded the ten selected consolation winners from various schools. The vote of thanks was delivered by Thepfülie Thünuo, Consultant Sanitation & Hygiene, PHED, the Department also thanks all NGOs and who supports and take parts the awareness weeklong from February 20 to 25 in the entire districts of Nagaland state after the official launching by minister for PHED Noke Wangnao from state capital Kohima.
