WC NNPGs calls for safeguard of indigenous peoples’ interest

DIMAPUR, MARCH 4 (MExN): The Working Committee (WC), Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) today stated that the “ancestral land and indigenous peoples’ interest must be safeguarded at all cost.”

Meanwhile, taking exception to the March 1 protest, wherein traffic was blocked across the New Field Check Gate, the WC NNPGs said that it would “investigate, monitor and identify those ringleaders" opposing the ILP implementation.

“Any opposition of ILP either in words or action shall be taken as an affront to Naga people's aspiration and their long political struggle,” the WC NNPGs stated.

It further informed that the WC NNPGs had met Ahom revolutionary leaders, CSO leaders and “positively shared common concerns.”

“Let it be known to our neighbours in Assam and other neighbouring peoples that Nagas are prepared to partner indigenous peoples in the region” to tackle the issue of illegal immigrants, it declared.

It further asked both the Governments of Nagaland and Assam to adopt a common position on this issue.
