WC, NNPGs questions FIR filed by NSCN (R) Kilonser

DIMAPUR, MAY 27 (MExN): The Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), led by its Convener N. Kitovi Zhimomi, has expressed deep concern over a recent incident involving Mughato Chophy, Finance Kilonser of the NSCN (Reformation), terming it a setback at a time when the Naga people are collectively hoping for an early and peaceful resolution to the Naga political issue.

In a press release issued by its media cell, the Working Committee said it was disturbed by Chophy’s decision to file a First Information Report (FIR) at Diphupar Police Station against members of the NSCN (Khango), following an alleged intrusion incident. “It remains to be seen whether this action was driven by necessity or response,” it stated.

The Committee questioned how a senior revolutionary leader like Mughato Chophy, who holds the rank of Kilonser, sought police intervention in a matter involving two Naga political groups. “Dragging the Naga issue from the level of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to the local police is not only controversial but also tarnishes the spirit of revolutionary patriotism,” it said.

The WC further casts doubt on Chophy’s intentions as a revolutionary worker, going so far as to suggest that he could be functioning as an undercover agent of adversarial forces. It argued that he should have raised the matter through proper channels, such as approaching the Chairman of the Ceasefire Supervisory Board, instead of turning to civil authorities.

The WC, meanwhile, clarified that it has not taken a position on the altercation between the NSCN (Reformation) and NSCN (Khango), noting that it was yet to ascertain whether the action taken against Chophy was “was re-action against his provocation.”

The WC said it does not hold any comments or opinions concerning the internal operations of any organization at this juncture.
