Wokha, September 27 (DIPR): Wokha District Disaster Management Authority (WDDMA) along with the line department and stakeholders held a meeting on September 26 at DC Conference hall to assess damage reports for onward submission and intimidation caused due to heavy storm, hailstorm, heavy rainfall, landslides and floods.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Wezope Kenye welcoming the members, maintained that the district will be able to tackle disasters by staying alert. The district had conducted two successful mock drills, with large public participation, and the inputs put in thereof has been very encouraging, he said.
Kenye also thanked the Commissioner and Secretary, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Khrienuo Metha for the special attention shown towards the district and assisting the district during emergencies.
Department of Medical, DRDA, BSNL and PWD (R&B) presented Damage Assessment Report during the meeting. Chairman, Lotha Hoho also raised various issues for improvement of roads and other areas of concern in the district, needing immediate attention. The DC requested other line departments to prepare details and submit the same to the higher authority at the earliest.
ADC, Bhandari, Nchumbemo Odyuo informed of the order/notification his office will soon be issuing, to restrict the loads of the vehicles to tackle the problem of the weak bridge at Doyang.
