Nagaland Governor, RN Ravi today stated that efforts are ongoing to strengthen the Nagaland Police.

Speaking at the NLA session on February 12, the Governor stated, “We continue to strengthen the capabilities of Nagaland Police.”

Ravi said that the general law and order situation in the state has remained largely peaceful. There have been some localised incidents which were contained with swiftness by the district administration and police, he added.

On the measures to strengthen the State Police, the Governor informed that to enhance fighting crime against women, a Women’s Police Station at Kiphire was established, thus covering all 11 districts. He said that the government plans to establish one in the newly created district of Noklak as well.

In order to improve technical capacities to fight cyber crime, a Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children Lab cum Training Centre (CCPWC) has been made operational. Cyber Cells to investigate cyber-crime have been also set up in all the districts.

The Nagaland Police, in order to tackle the menace of extortion and curb instances of illegal taxation, has set up Anti-Extortion Cells in all the districts of the state, which work in close coordination with other law enforcement and security agencies to contain illegal activities. The Nagaland Police also played an exceptional role, in enforcing the SoPs and transporting essential goods, in the fight against COVID-19, the Governor lauded.
