What ails industry & entrepreneurship in the State?

Some of those who voted Political situation had this to say:
•    I would say its all three of them. But if I were to pick up one I would say that the political situation is the root cause because it gives the politicians and the government the chance to be corrupt and to get away from doing their duty. The political situation is only very uninspiring for the youths who seemed disillusioned with the present situation.
•    We just have too many 'tax collectors' and people who are used to free money. Corruption is everywhere. People do not want to invest in the state because the moment someone seems to have some money he will be harassed recklessly. Nagaland has few resources. We need outside investment to utilize the resources and take our businesses to greater heights but no one will invest in the prevailing situation. This not only retards growth of the prevailing businesses but also discourages budding entrepreneurs.
•    How can a society grow when there is so-called day light robbery or what 2 we call "Extortions". Can you imagine setting up an industry when these guys still exist. I don’t think so.
•    The unresolved political issue has given birth to many unwanted consequences. It has also meant that industries and entrepreneurship in Nagaland has been affected. It has also become very convenient for politicians and bureaucrats to keep blaming the political situation for their own lack of responsibility and their inability to actually do something positive in Nagaland. In many ways, the unresolved political situation has become the number one excuse for all people. Rather than taking responsibility for their actions or inactions, people blame the situation for their misery. It is obvious that the Nagaland government can do much more to promote entrepreneurship which will change Nagaland, but instead they have diverted funds elsewhere and their easy way out excuse has been to blame the political situations. I think once the political situation is resolved, people will not have anything else to blame. It will do Nagaland good if the political situation is quickly resolved.
•    Nothing but insecure political situation in the state. Entrepreneurs are also scared of the situation despite their ability to innovate things in the state.

Some of those who voted Govt. apathy had this to say:
•    The government cannot deny that the budget allocation for Nagaland has increased manifolds over the past decade. Since the last few years, it has increased even more. So as far as money and opportunity is concerned, the government cannot plead ignorance. There is a substantial amount of money. The issue therefore is where and how is the money being spent. A huge chunk of the so called development work is obviously taking place in Kohima district; but what about the rest of the money. Without a doubt there is poor governance and gross corruption in the state machinery. I have no qualms in pointing out that government apathy is responsible for the lack of industrial development and entrepreneurial initiative in Nagaland.
•    Just remove the Industry portfolio from the Ministry? Are we Nagas not ashamed of even mentioning it to the Delhi people? What face do they show there to bring the funds? If they were to show to something to the central people, Show my Pig sty. Thats the only ondustry in Nagaland and that too private investments and not the Govts. Our Ministry should include Minister for Piggery & Doggery rather than Industry.
•    What? Do we have industries or I havent notice it myself. As far as I know, the only mentionable industry we had was Sugarmill and Tuli papermill. They lay rotten and decayed. Thank you very much our previous Industrialists. All they did was ruin the industry and build their mansions. Thank you for the families who lost their livelihoods by taking away their jobs.
•    Poor sugar mill in dmpr, and Tuli Paper mill. These are the products of our Govt. They have e been destroyed by our own Governance. Hats off to our people. They have sold it off for their gain.
•    2008, year of the farmers. The Govt couldn’t even buy goods from our poor farmers. They were paying at a price so low even our farmers thought, better not to sell but let it rot. The Govt had betrayed them. Where did the money go as promised? How come Nagaland Govt couldn’t even buy Gingers from our poor farmers?
•    What miserable condition we are into. Neither the youths are given the scope, nor the Govt is taking any interest in setting up industries. Moreover, private companies are scared to invest in Nagaland because of insurgency. Our people should realize by now how much it costs the people in a long run having our freedom fighters eating away the taxations.
•    Woe betide the present and the past Govts. What have they done for us? What will they do for us? All they know and will continue doing is EAT, STEAL, AND STEAL more. Even God will agree, Nagas have been given a chance to develop resources yet the people had misused the chances. NPF/DAN or CONGRESS..they are of the same feathers. Nothing is going the change. They say, OLD HABITS DIE HARD, And Nagas have the habit of misusing what the Indians provides.
•    It is sad case of pathetic governance towards industrial development. In fact, all developments are clearly seen…the big mansions, loads of cars and Beleros and Scorpios. What was meant for the public, our big bosses have coolly resourced it for their own backyard development. This is Nagaland and its govt ‘pathetic.’
•    It is seen and known by all that it is neither the political situation nor because of our uninspired youths. No matter which party comes to power, they are going to eat away the state's exchequer. There are no avenues nor opportunities given the Govt to the youths. So no question of being uninspired youths. All the blame goes to our Govt. When will these power and money mongers learn something to uplift their state's industries. At least they should think of their children and grand children. If they do not sow goods, what will they depend on. Their father's will not be Ministers 4ever.
•    Why is the Nagaland state, the only state which cannot sustain nor maintain even small scale industries? Nagaland has enough natural resources, yet nothing comes out of it. The pathetic concern by the Govt has been there since long and it still is the culprit. All Naga youths cannot be employed in the Govt sector. If there were private industries and business even in a small scale, there shouldn’t be any problem with the unemployment issue. The Govt must look into this problem seriously. Otherwise, whats the point of having Industry Ministers and Parliamentary secy's. All the funds are swindled by these bosses.
•    Surely our state Govt have done nothing in the industry sector. Since statehood, Nagaland haven’t produce even a needle, let alone big industries. We dont know where the funds go. Our bosses shouldn’t do like this.
•    The government is concerned for its own well being and rather than being public servants they have made the public their servants. This is what is ailing the industry in Nagaland. Look at the Industrial complex, in whose land is it and just look at its state of affairs. This is just one example. Similarly there are so many other instances where politicians and bureaucrats have taken up the works to promote entrepreneurship only to make a mess of it, taking the people down with them.
•    What industry or entrepreneurship is encouraged in our state? Its a sorry picture when we look at the industrial aspect. The old sugar mill in Dmpr is decaying and the only substantial industry in Tuli is all but forgotten, The bosses at the helm of power have swindled the money meant to sustain such projects. Anything to do with money is not going to last long in Nagaland. We are all lions waiting to pounce on any opportunity to whisk away funds for our own profit. The previous Govt have proved their mettle. Now the present one is just following the steps. We will never see any industries in our lifetime in Nagaland.
•    There is no industries in Nagaland. Just imagine, If India gives us independence, then where will we get the resources just for our sustenance? It has just become a joke about the freedom fighting thing. We are unique, but unique in what aspect? We are the most hypocratic beings on earth. We dont have anything to depend, yet we say we are a unique race and we have to have a separate nation, and we boss around a lot. God forbid, if the Indians stop feeding us, we will die of hunger. So stop this war against India. If at all you want war, fight it out among you factions because now what you do is compete among yourself who will extort more and kill more for ransom. PATHETIC UNDERGROUNDS. Broad day light robbery and extortion in the name of freedom for motherland? Remember our land belongs to India, and we are all crazy for the paper notes which have GANDHIJI'S HEAD.

Some of those who voted Uninspired youths had this to say:
•    Naga youths are one of the most uninspiring these days. There was a time when Naga youths invoked new strength and vision, but now, they are just plain lazy and always back biting one another. Its a shame it has reached to such low levels. Their attitude to work is plain lazy and they are not willing to work hard, but they want easy money. No wonder many of them have turned to unlawful means to make a quick buck.  Their indifference and negative approach is responsible for the state of industry and entrepreneurship in Nagaland.
•    If there is inspiration, nothing will stop us, even guns or bombs, or the underground taxation!!
•    Look at the staggering number of unemployed Naga youths in Nagaland. This itself is uninspiring.  Have they not heard of a concept called self-employment; but no, since their main objective was to be employed in the government services, it is not likely they will look for other forms of employment.   I wish Naga youths were more courageous and adventurous in creating new forms of livelihood for themselves rather than depending on others to create it for them.
•    Naga youths are quite lazy, the lack the confidence to take initiatives and the creativity to create new opportunities. At best they are always complaining about the situation and blaming others for their own misery.
