Watsü Mungdang, the apex Ao Naga women organization, celebrated International Women’s day in collaboration with Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority and NSRLM, on the theme, “Inspire Inclusion,” which was held at the Town Hall, Mokokchung.
Moamenla Longkumer, District Mission Co-ordinator, DHEW, while highlighting the significance of the day, drew light on the history of the celebration of International Women’s day. She pointed out that negative words like Deprivation, Subjugation, discrimination and suppression can be changed to positive words when inclusivity is promoted, equality is practiced, respect and peaceful coexistence is made normal in homes, workplaces and society.
The theme speaker Rachel Jamir, Associate pastor, Kumlong Baptist Church, in her speech said that inclusivity will be a reality in a society where respect is valued. Further, she also opined that inspiring inclusion should begin with recognizing the contributions of women including the contributions of the marginalized sectors. He also encouraged the women to inspire self-first and then inspire the other women, uplift and support each other and not suppress one another.
Exhortations and experiences were delivered by Moatoshi, Assistant Director, Programme Manager, NSRLM, Imlichila, UBI Officer in-charge Women Police Mokokchung, Tsukjemangla, Nursing Superintendent IMDH, representative from Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority and Moazungla, Gender CRP, NSRLM Mokokchung. The programme was chaired by Asola Ozükum, Vice president Watsü Mungdang. A play based on the theme was presented by ANM school of Nursing.
