Kohima, Nov 8 (MExN): The state government is contemplating to launch a “White Milk Revolution” in the state soon. Talking to media persons on the sidelines of launching a Comprehensive Rural Extension Services Programme (CRESP) today, Minister for Home, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Thenucho revealed that Rs. 200 crore has been proposed towards the said project. Thenucho asserted that the project was on the pipeline.
In the meantime, Thenucho challenged the veterinary doctors to establish its own farm so that the people would learn inputs from them. “Your farm should be an example to your profession,” he said. A research project on swine is on the card in collaboration with ICAR, the minister said and at the same time vowed to improve local birds, remarking the indigenous birds as tasty, nutritious, healthy and organic. “We cannot expect good things unless we provide a proper feed,” he said and stressed on the need to apply feed technology in the state. The government will provide technical support and proper vaccination, he said.
