My attention has been drawn towards the eve r increasing messes and scandals that has enveloped the Education Department in Nagaland recently. It is observed that instead of devising measures for effective delivery system for improving the educational standard in Nagaland, every officers in the department, from top to bottom are busy scheming ways and means to siphon funds available, and in the process, leaving the department to rot. The continuous and successive controversies that has surrounded the department without any solution in sight are enough evidence of the department’s lackadaisal attitude towards the messes that has engulfed the department .The Chief Minister, by virtue of being the head of the Government should pull up the non-performing and complacent ministers from time to time and the Chief Secretary should cajole the dormant departments and their Head of Departments (HODs).Though I bear no ill-will against any officer or the concerned Minister, I am expressing my anguish after seeing the turmoil that has remained in the department for too long.
