Dimapur, Aug 2 (MExN): A field workers’ association is alleged to be illegally deducting about 50% of ADA arrears of work-charge employees under PWD while an illegal withdrawal of Rs 12.60 lakhs under EE, Housing Division No.1, Kohima has been unearthed. A separate statement from the alleged persons responsible for the fraudulent drawl, have also acceded that “If any grievances arises we will be solely held responsible regarding this case”.
The All Nagaland PWD (R&B) & (H) Work Charge Employees Association strongly opposed the deduction of 50% ADA arrears of work-charge employees by president of All Nagaland Field Workers Association, Inakhu Aye. According to the PW association the state government had released an amount of Rs 1.741 crore ADA arrears under NPWD. The association through its president Khrielakuo stated that out of the sanctioned amount Inakhu, a regular employee under EE (R&B) Dimapur is demanding 50% deduction of the released amount. The association noted that out of Rs 47.64 lakhs released for PWD Housing on July 28, 2006 the CE’s office (H) has deducted 50% i.e., 23.82 lakhs in favor of Inakhu Aye. The association sternly questioned the malpractice since no association or individual has the power and authority to deduct such a huge amount “depriving the poor work-charge employees of their hard-earned ADA arrears”.
The association also claimed to have unearthed an illegal drawl of Rs 12.60 Lakh ADA arrears under EE, Housing Division No.1 Kohima.
The association identified the individuals who made the fraudulent withdrawal of the money as one Pinimthung, a UDA attached with the construction division of Chiephoibozou and another identified as Ivishe Sema from Zunheboto. The PWD work-charge employees stated that the drawl was made following an agreement dated March 30, 2006 in which they stated that 50% i.e., Rs 6.30 lakhs of the ADA arrears have been spent and 50% being handed over to the EE, PWD (H) Division No. 1 Kohima for disbursement to staffers. It was added that the agreement was signed by the EE himself.
The association further stated that when the matter was brought to the notice of the concern authorities, the latter maintained ignorance that such malpractices are taking place. It was suspected that there is a nexus between some office staffers and the above named persons.
Meanwhile, Pinimthung and Ivishe Aye in a separate statement stated that they have drawn an amount of Rs 12,60,000 “only against” the Housing Division No.1 Kohima in the account of ADA arrears for work-charge staffers from the Chief engineer’s office on March 29.
“Out of which 50% of the total amount has been spent by us and the remaining 50% has been handed over to the Executive Engineer PWD (Housing) Division No.1 Kohima on 30th March, 06’ to be disbursed to the staffs. If any grievances arise we will be solely held responsible regarding this case” said the statement which was also signed by the Executive Engineer PWD (H) Division No.1 Kohima apart from Pinimthung and Ivishe.
