Dimapur, March 23 (MExN): The Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU), Dimapur seized various wildlife on March 22 that were being sold along National Highway-29 of Pherima village. The seized items included one Common Palm Civet, four Hoary Bellied Squirrels, one Khalij Pheasant and four other birds. The seized bush meat were disposed off by burning in the presence of Forest officials on the same day, the unit informed in a press release. The unit further asserted that since enough awareness and warnings have been given on various occasions through respective Village Councils as well as print media, any offender if caught in future will be penalized as per the law.
