Wokha: Government stresses quality education through NECTAR project

Wokha, May 26 (MExN): A consultative meeting on the Nagaland Education Project - The Lighthouse (NECTAR) was convened at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Wokha on May 26. 

The meeting was attended by key government officials, including Advisor to School Education, Government of Nagaland, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Dr Chumben Murry, Principal Director of School Education, Commissioner Secretary of School Education, Joint Secretary, and Deputy Project Director NEP - NECTAR, Avelü Ruho. Representatives from various community organizations, including Lotha Hoho, Lotha Students’ Union, Lotha Eloe Hoho, landowners, and other officials, were also present.  

According to a DIPR report, during the meeting, Advisor School Education, Dr Yhome, emphasised the importance of establishing quality educational institutions in Wokha District and highlighted its historical significance in Nagaland. He stressed the need for strict implementation of government rules and directives to ensure proper execution of the project. 

Addressing the challenges posed by land encroachment, he called for swift resolution, stressing that the institution would become a center of learning and pride for the district. He assured that necessary steps would be taken to enhance infrastructure and improve academic facilities.  

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Dr Chumben Murry, urged landowners to settle disputes at the earliest, ensuring that the project implementation proceeds without hindrance.  

Deputy Project Director NEP - NECTAR, Avelü Ruho, provided an overview of the project’s inception and implementation, explaining the strategic vision and expected outcomes.  

Deputy Commissioner Wokha Vineet Kumar, IAS, reaffirmed the commitment to protecting government land in the district, ensuring smooth execution of the project without disruptions.  

The Principal of GHSS Wokha, stressed the need for quality infrastructure and urged NGOs to extend cooperation, emphasizing that this opportunity should not be overlooked.  

Lotha Students’ Union President, Lirhonthung Lotha, welcomed the legal measures taken by the government and assured full support in all steps undertaken for the project. He urged contractors to adhere to quality standards and proper specifications in construction and called upon landowners to avoid complications that could hinder progress.  
Chairman of Lotha Hoho also pledged full support and cooperation, committing to assisting in the successful execution of the initiative.  

Landowners who had previously donated land to the government provided details regarding the history of land acquisition and concerns associated with the project’s implementation. Their inputs shed light on critical issues affecting the construction process, the DIPR report stated. 

Following the meeting, advisors and officials visited the project construction site to assess the ongoing work and review the progress made.
