Wokha, January 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Peoples’ Front (NPF) Wokha division on Saturday held a consultative meeting and picnic at Doyang Hydro Project.
According to a press release, MLA Dr Chumben Murry addressed party workers and said that the opposition less government was a long agenda and discussion within the political parties in the State having a concept to strengthen the Indo-Naga political settlement.
He cleared the air of confusion among the NPF political party workers in the district saying that the UDA government was formed to have a closed discussion of the Naga issue and there was no demand for power and that the NPF party went for a political settlement and not for a government formation.
He said that the leaders of the party are working to bring settlement and informed that NPF leaders along with the Chief Minister had visited Delhi earlier to fulfill the most awaiting dreams of the Naga populace.
While appreciating the positive progress in the Naga political issue under the UDA government, Dr Murry also called on the workers to revamp the office functioning of 38 AC and the office of NPF Wokha division.
Tsumongo Ovung, senior VP (COB) of NPF, in his short speech, said that NPF is the second oldest regional party in India and reminded the party workers that the state might go for election in a year. Calling on them to keep watchful eyes on the system of governance as the state would go for elections in 2023 if there is no solution, he asked them to strengthen the party by performing their assigned duties.
Grace T Murry, Gen secretary of Women Wing (COB) reminded the party workers to have principles and not to resort to lobbying. She also and called for collective action, ideas and plans to bring achievement while advocating for fairness and equality in bringing development.
Chobathung Odyuo, CEC said that NPF is the most befitting political party for Naga people and informed the party workers to have perseverance and endurance. He also called on workers to prepare well to execute plans into action in the next state election.
While various party workers from 37 AC, 38 AC, 39 AC and 40 AC also spoke on the occasion, a three-point resolution including acknowledgement of the NDPP, BJP and NPF leadership for forming the UDA with an aim to facilitate the Indo-Naga Political settlement and endorsement of the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and leaders of NPF Legislative members to bring about a resolution to the vexed Naga Political issue, was taken. Along with this, the NPF Wokha division also appealed to the UDA leadership for equal treatment towards the NPF legislators in order to achieve maximum development for the betterment of the Naga people.
