
Guwahati, May 2 (MExN): A woman passenger gave birth to a baby girl while travelling by the 15903 Dibrugarh–Chandigarh express, according to a press release from Chief Public Relations Officer, Northeast Frontier Railway. It noted that the 24-year-old woman was travelling with her husband from New Tinsukia to Mirzapur when enroute she experienced labour pain and gave birth. On duty railway staff rendered prompt medical help to the woman, the release said. The train was stopped at Nazira station, where RPF personnel along with other railway staff promptly arranged for shifting the mother and child to civil hospital in Nazira. Both of them are safe, the release stated. It mentioned that RPF of NF Railway have launched a special drive for the security of women and children in railway premises all over NF Railway. There has also been an increase in assistance calls to 182, the 24 x 7 helpline number, the press note added.
