Peren, July 26 (MExN): ATMA Ahthibung block conducted Kisan Goshtis at Saijang village on July 21.
The ATMA Ahthibung team along with women farmers visited the farmers’ fields and surveyed the problems of pests and diseases and also identified the potential crops of Saijang village, a release mentioned.
During the discussions, the farmers related their problems of pests and diseases of various cash crops. Meanwhile, ATMA officials briefed on steps to overcome the problems of pest and diseases through prophylactic measures using locally available plants extracts for organic production of vegetables and spices, it further added.
The farmers were also taught on how to maintain soil health and the importance of soil nitrification by organic measures like green manuring, incorporation of well rotten FYM and also using bio agents.
The farmers were encouraged to work hard and further enhance their fields during winter crops cultivation for increasing income. Resource persons also highlighted the farmers on economics of cultivating crops.
The programme was attended by 18 women farmers.
