Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): The Naga Women Hoho, Dimapur has decided to withdraw support to the Naga Council “until and unless the council shows their willingness to represent the democratic laws and rights of its constituent organizations.”
The trouble stemmed from the NWHD’s declining to cooperate with the DC’s directive authorizing the Naga Council and the NWHD to undertake a donation drive for the April 22 victims of Wungram colony, a clarification received here from the NWHD’s executives stated. The Hoho made mention of certain resolutions in its constitution where it states that the president and general secretary would represent the Hoho and that any “executive member representing the Hoho in other body shall discontinue once her tenure expires in the NWHD.” A related stipulation was made in the Naga Council’s resolution dated April 21, 2006.
The Hoho expressed surprise that the Naga Council in violation of its own resolutions and the constitution of the NWHD “is applying double-standard policy by allowing the previous president and secretary” to represent the Hoho as women councilors even after verbal and written representation clarifying the matter that the two does not represent the Hoho any more.
“The NWHD has taken a decision to withdraw cooperation and support to the Naga Council until and unless the council shows their willingness to represent the democratic laws and rights of its constituent organization so as to have transparency while executing our social obligations and duties” the Hoho reaffirmed.
“The NWHD has been rendering all possible humanitarian service in whatever humble way possible including providing assistance to the recent Wungram incident” it stated informing of its contributions in cash and in kind. It affirmed to continue volunteering for such humanitarian services.
