Women’s Champions Trophy

Tizu Warriors, Chathe Dazzlers get convincing wins

Dimapur, April 25 (MExN): The 4th Edition of the Women’s Champions Trophy 2025 kicked off with commanding victories for the Tizu Warriors and Chathe Dazzlers in their respective opening fixtures held in Dimapur.

At the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, the Tizu Warriors defeated the Zungki Slingers by 40 runs, with Roma Subha delivering a game-changing spell of bowling. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Tizu Warriors posted a competitive 135 for 6 in the allotted 40 overs. The innings was anchored by Najmeen, who scored a steady 59 off 107 balls.

Despite a disciplined effort by Zungki Slingers’ bowlers—Mengusenuo taking 2 for 11 and Limatola Ao 2 for 26—the Warriors managed to set a defendable target.

In response, Zungki Slingers faltered in their chase, managing just 95 runs in 27.3 overs. Limatola Ao was the lone resistance with a fighting 37 off 46 balls, but the rest of the lineup failed to withstand the pressure applied by the Tizu bowlers. Roma Subha spearheaded the attack, claiming 5 wickets for 24 runs in her 8-over spell to seal the win. She was named Player of the Match.

In another dominant display at Sovima Cricket Ground, Chathe Dazzlers registered a resounding 115-run victory over Dikhu Strikers.

Batting first, Chathe posted 186 for 7, thanks to a fluent 43 off 44 balls by Lanungla, setting a strong tone for the innings. Dikhu Strikers’ bowlers managed to claim regular wickets, with Limatola Ao taking 2 for 26 and Tiajungla 2 for 49.

However, the Strikers crumbled during their chase, bowled out for a mere 71 runs in 26.1 overs. Only Liyani Ezung reached double digits, scoring 10 runs. The Dazzlers’ bowling duo of Tsukenshe and Elina Muru proved unplayable—Tsukenshe bagged 5 for 17, while Muru claimed 4 for 18, earning her the Player of the Match award.
