Mokokchung, April 15 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner, Lithrongla G. Chishi has said that Naga society is a classless society where there is no gender discrimination therefore women plays a pivotal role in the society.
Speaking as the main Speaker on the topic ‘Conquer your Field’ on the second day of the 18th General conference of Watsu Mungdang at Mokokchung town Hall on April 15, Lithrongla while saying that women’s role is complex in our society, she emphasised on two points-women as wife and women as government servant. Challenging the women she said unless ‘we are a role model, people will not respect us’ therefore in whatever field ‘you are in the society you must conquer your field’.
Naga women rise above all differences
Chairperson, Nagaland State women commission, Sano Vamuzo while delivering a short speech said that Aos being the most advanced tribe in Naga society, Aos have many challenges ahead. Pointing out that the most important that the Watsu Mungdang should do is to guide their sisters from other tribes. Sano Vamuzo also mentioned that tribalism, church denomination, political parties and the under ground factions have divided the Naga society, despite all these she maintained that Naga women rise above all differences and are one. She also called upon the women to work together with dedication for bringing in changes in the society for women are agent of change. ‘Let us first change and forgive ourselves to bring about a change in our society’ she added.

Ao Senden President, Lendinokdang also gave a short exhortation while Mongsenyimti Watsu unit, Chuchuyimpang and Khensa village councils presented special numbers. The 18th Watsu Mungdang (Ao women conference) began on 14th April 2011 on the theme “Conquer Your field.
