Workshop on biodiversity conservation held in Wokha

Wokha, November 23 (MExN): Coinciding with the Peak season of roosting of Amur falcons in the Falcon capital of the world, an awareness workshop on “Biodiversity Conservation: Issues & Challenges” funded by the Botanical Survey of India under the aegis of the National Mission on Himalayan Studies Project was held at the Don Bosco Youth Center Hall, DBHSS Wokha organized by Wokha Forest Division.


Dr N Odyuo, Scientist D, BSI addressed the young participants of the school to be informed and adapt to a lifestyle for overall wellbeing of biodiversity even for the generations to come. Special invitee Supongnukshi Ao, IFS, CCF & Member Secretary, Nagaland State Biodiversity Board shared his experiences on biodiversity conservation efforts, the present scenario and future expectations especially from the younger generations.


Special number was presented by Class 12 DBHSS and the welcome address was delivered by Zuthunglo Patton, IFS, DFO Wokha. The Inaugural session began with invocation prayer by Fr Manuel Paikata, SDB, Principal, DBHSS, Wokha.  


Technical session began with foreword by Fr TC Joseph, Vice-Principal DBHSS with his message to respect all forms of life. Resource persons for the workshop were Steve Odyuo, Chairman Natural Nagas, Lansothung Lotha, FR, Dr David, Scientist BSI, Dr N Odyuo, Scientist D BSI. Several issues on the topic were discussed along with powerpoint presentations, quizzes which was followed by Poster presentation and nature walk from the team of the Botanical Survey of India. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Abeno Ovung, Livelihood Expert, NFMP Wokha and the programme was chaired by Vivika Sema, FR.
