Kohima, September 8 (MExN): A seven day workshop on ‘Tone in North East languages (with special reference to Naga languages)’ was inaugurated at Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema on September 8. It is organized by Centre for Naga Tribal Language Studies (CNTLS), Nagaland University, Kohima Campus in collaboration with Linguistic Data Consortium for Indian Languages (LDC-IL), CIIL, Mysore.
The main objective of the workshop is to explore the diverse rich tonal features in Naga languages, to encourage and promote research work in Naga languages and other North East languages as well.
In the inaugural ceremony, around 60 participants were present. Prof. R.C. Gupta, Pro Vice-Chancellor, NU, Kohima Campus and Dr. L. Bijen Kumar Singh, Local Coordinator, Centre for Naga Tribal Language Studies (CNTLS), Nagaland University were the chief guest and chairperson respectively.
The Local Coordinator, Dr. L. Bijen Kumar Singh has informed in a press release that Amom Nandaraj Meetei from LDC-IL, CIIL, Mysore is the resource person. Around 60 participants were present at the ceremony.
