Workshop on basic online teaching held in Kohima

Kohima, August 14 (MExN): Since the global pandemic of COVID-19 and closure of educational institutions alongwith all others, educational institutions in Nagaland too had to shift their base to virtual platforms to conduct classes online.

To assist college and school teachers in this crucial shift from traditional to virtual teaching, the Department of Education, Don Bosco College Kohima with support from Nagaland Board of School Education conducted a three day workshop on Basics of Online Teaching from August 10 to 12 last.

In the three day workshop, teachers were oriented on Virtual Management of Class and Evaluation- Google Classroom, Google Forms by Deepak Sahu and Miss Madhuri Padaya from K.J Somaiya College of Science and Commerce, Mumbai; Virtual Delivery and Videos in teaching- Google Meet, Zoom, Virtual boards by Dr. Soyhunlo Sebu, Regional Institute of Education, NCERT, Bhopal  and Virtual Delivery and Videos- Creating and Editing videos using OBS and OSVE by Dr. Sangeeta Pethiya Regional Institute of Education, NCERT, Bhopal.

Participants were also provided with practice sessions and assignments after delivery of lessons.

Earlier, while inaugurating the workshop, Fr. Dr. P. Suresh, Principal, Don Bosco College Kohima welcomed the gathering while Asano Sekhose, Chairman Nagaland Board of School Education motivated and encouraged the participating teachers.

The session was chaired by Jarani Mao, Assistant Professor, Don Bosco College Kohima.

A brief valedictory programme marked the end of the three day workshop, where several participants expressed words of gratitude.

A total of 128 teachers from both college and schools in Nagaland registered for the workshop.

The workshop was convened by Dr. Imtinaro Longkumer, Head & Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Don Bosco College, Kohima.
