Wokha, February 11 (MExN): Sponsored by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, Mt Tiyi College (MTC), Wokha organized a two-day workshop on ‘skill development for employment in hospitality and tourism industry’ on February 9 and 10.
MTC, Principal Dr ML Ngullie in his opening remark mentioned that the workshop is a debut National Seminar in MTC and first ever of its kind in Wokha district.
RGNIYD Director, Professor, Sibnath Deb said the workshop is a very important programme for career growth as it also highlights employment opportunities for younger generations.
Resource persons for the workshop Dr K Zumomo Ovung, Ikavi Zhimomi, Henry Gonmei and M Chumrenthung Ezung, enlightened the students with lectures and some practical demonstrations on numerous topics related to the theme of the workshop.
Dr K Zumomo Ovung, Associate Professor MTC, dwelled on ‘A talk on India’s National Policy and sustainable development goals’. The other resource persons spoke on Introduction to Hospitality & Tourism Industry, Front Office Management, Customer service I & II, Food & Beverage services Basic, Housekeeping and Marketing in Hospitality & Tourism Industry.
The resource persons also informed the students about the various courses offered to help them realize how new business avenues can be generated and to help them understand the job opportunities and prospects related to it which will eventually benefit them and make them self reliant.
Besides sharing their personal experiences, the resource persons also added corporate learning and skill training which is key in helping students prepare and equip themselves to face challenges in life.
On the second day Professor Vasanthi Registrar RGNIYD gave an online valedictory message while Dr Merebeni Patton gave the concluding remark and Sentimenla Jamir, Associate Professor MTC delivered the vote of thanks.
