Mon: SASRD, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus under National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP) funded by World Bank conducted an awareness and training programme on agricultural technology enhancement and social issues in Longwa Mon on February 6.

Prof. L. Daiho, Co-Operating Scientist chaired the inaugural session while Honggo, First Christian convert and missionary in the village invoked God’s grace for the programme. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Pauline Alila, Co-operating Scientist and the overall progress of the National Agricultural Innovative Project was highlighted by Prof. M. Alemla Ao, Co-PI and Dean, SASRD.Two technical sessions were conducted where 65 members of various SHGs attended. The following topics were discussed in detail: Nursery raising and management of Large Cardamon by Dr. Pauline Alila and Disease Management in Large Cardamom by Prof. L. Daiho while Er. Chubamanen, STA gave a hands-on demonstration on Handling and Maintenance of Agro-processing equipments. Dr. Molu Jamir, Medical Officer, ARTC, District Hospital Dimapur, spoke on on HIV awareness and its related issues.
A team of five members lead by Luyim Tzudir, DAPCU, Mon spoke on various social issues and different government programmes to help overcome the ills of drug/opium addiction and rehabilitation for the people of Longwa. Dr. Amod Sharma collected details of the village profile after implementation of NAIP. Temjenmenba, AVS and Research Associates Medo Chizo and Chingkai Konyak surveyed the village and recorded various innovations implemented though the project.
