World Consumer Rights Day observed in GHS Zhadima

Kohima, March 14 (MExN): The World Consumer Rights Day was observed in advance on March 13, jointly organized by the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection (LMCP) and Consumer Club, Government Higher Secondary School, Zhadima at the school premises.


Guest speaker Soni Magh, Assistant Professor Kohima Law College stressing on the theme "the sustainable consumer," said that sustainable consumption is the use of products and services that have a minimal impact on the environment for the benefit of the present and future generations. The 3 principles of sustainability – economic, social and environment should be maintained in earnest by consumers where resource efficiency and fair trade practices are aimed at improving quality of life. The speaker also covered a wide range of Consumer Protection Laws in a simple and easy to understand language for all.


 Shiloh Kath, Asst Controller LMCP Kohima in his keynote address said that the aim was to take consumer awareness campaigns to the rural area with the idea "think globally, act locally."


The programme was chaired by Kezhaleno Lhousa Assistant Headmaster and the feedback and appreciation was given by Ngusazolie Rhietso, Headmaster.
