WSH commends department's proactive measures, urges continued vigilance

Dimapur, September 4 (MExN): The Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has commended the department concerned for their proactive efforts in monitoring and maintaining the Niuland to Kohima (via Ghotovi-Zhadima) road, ensuring a safe and smooth journey for travelers.

“We appreciate their prompt response to the current situation and request the department to continue closely monitoring the situation 24x7, given the road's critical importance as a vital alternative route to the state capital,” it said.

Furthermore, it extended its wholehearted support to the Deputy Commissioner of Niuland's order to monitor anti-social activities along the route. Recognizing the potential risks and challenges posed by increased traffic flow, the WSH assured its commitment to ensuring public safety and order in collaboration with village leaders, organizations, and authorities.

“We will work together to prevent traveler harassment and support swift action against individuals or groups causing public disorder,” it added.

The WSH also extended condolences to the families of the six individuals who tragically lost their lives in the landslide on National Highway-29 near Pherima on September 3, 2024.

“We mourn the immense loss they have suffered and urge the government to provide prompt and adequate compensation to the affected families, supporting them in their time of grief,” it added
