WSSU urges to intervene in flood issue

Dimapur, July 20 (MExN): The officials of Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) visited the flood affected Yeveto village under Niuland subdivision of Dimapur and its adjourning areas on July 15. The WSSU interacted with the village chief, council chairman and the members and villagers. In a press release, WSSU expressed pain to learn that no official from the administration or the department concerned has visited the affected areas so far even after repeated appeal from the village council.

“The water is flowing at high risk level and thereby if no immediate remedial measure/ precautions/ interventions are taken, the flood will not only submerge the main affected village (Yeveto village) but will also affect the adjourning villages,” stated the release issued by WSSU President, Nito Achumi and General Secretary, Angukato Yeptho. In this light, WSSU urged the department concerned and the administration to intervene immediately and mitigate the plight of the public.
