WSTH organize seminar on sanitation

Dimapur, February 24 (MExN): A seminar observing National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Awareness Week organized by Western Sumi Totimi Hoho (WSTH) and sponsored by the department of Public Health Engineering, government of Nagaland was held today in KGPO Hall, Kuhuboto.

Ahimsa K. Zhimo, president WSTH and Jolly K. Aomi, general secretary, WSTH were the resource person of the day-long seminar. Ahimsa presented a topic on ‘safe drinking water & importance of sanitation for good community’ while Jolly spoke on ‘good sanitary practices’.  More than hundred women participants from Kuhuboto area representing churches, Sumi Totimi Hoho, WATSAN, Anganwadi and ASHA attended the programme.

Earlier, Hokiye Yepthomi, president, Western Sumi Hoho exhorted the occasion during the inaugural function the seminar. He lauded the WSTH for organizing the event that would go a long way in equipping women of the area with the awareness of total sanitation. He was of the view that women play equal role as men in the well-being of the society and hence women should be given more responsibilities in the society.

Highlighting the objectives of the programme, Ahima K. Zhimo quoted a scripture from the Bible that teaches about sanitation. Kashini H. Swu, president KGSTH, said invocation for the programme.
