Ex-Home Minister Y. Patton has resigned as MLA. Patton tendered his resignation from the membership of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on January 9. In a terse resignation letter dated January 9 and addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Patton cited a wish to voluntarily resign. Other than “voluntarily tender my resignation,” no further reasons as to the cause of the resignation were attributed. As per the letter, which started circulating in social media, the Speaker received the letter on January 10. While word went around of the resignation in the political circles, the Assembly was still to issue any official statement in this regard.
