Ukhrul | September 2 : The foundation day of soccer club "Yarkhok United Football Club"(YUFC) was held on September 1, 2011. The main aims and objectives of the Club were highlighted by Rinyapam Sareo, Club president and Ronthing Shaiza, secretary. It was stated that YUFC aims to promote and also give exposure to the talented young footballers of the region. It hopes to be a platform with a common hope and believe in reaching greater heights just as the motto banner reads "Reaching Greater Heights". The Club also aims to promote athleticism among the youngsters to prevent them from drug abuse, alcoholism and other harmful abuse of the body.
The chief guest for the occasion was Sr. Luikham, ex- CEO who hoisted the foundation flag. Speaking at the function, he stressed on the importance of maintaining a good and healthy body as, "Health is Wealth". Lucky Sareo, from Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA) also stated support of the Club affiliation to UDSA saying "United we stand, divided we fall". Madam Soso Shaiza, principal, Little Angel English Higher Secondary School advised the Club to continue the faith of enthusiastic vision. She also shared and encouraged the pledged support that the parents including herself always be backing the Club for successful development of the team.
S. Pengpeng, advisor of the Club shared the history of the football game in the World with the formation of the Federation of International Foot-ball Association (FIFA) in 1904 and the first World Cup held in Uruguay in 1930. The function opened with an opening prayer by S. Zingnim, Ex-Pastor, while vote of thanks was delivered by Phungreingam Maashangva, Finance Secretary, YUFC. Players’ uniform was donated by Mr. Worrin Shaiza and the function concluded with a closing prayer graced by S. Awoping.
