Shamator, January 10 (MExN): The Yimkhiung Baptist Borü Amukhungto (YBBA) celebrated gospel platinum jubilee, commemorating the advent of Christianity in Yimkhiung land on January 8 and 9 at Shamator Town Baptist Church under the theme ‘Christ Our Rock and Hope.’
A press release issued by Rev R Thsankiu, Convenor, Jubilee Planning Committee stated that the speakers were Rev Dr Mar Pongener, Executive Secretary ABAM Impur, Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary NBCC and Dr Niholi Sumi, Principal Nito Theological College, Zunheboto.
According to the release, Christianity in Yimkhiung land came from Sumis when Lt Lhovixe, Evangelist of Tichipami landed in Huker village and baptized Pungji and Rikiumong on March 15, 1947. MLA S Keoshu, YTC officials, Kihoto Theological College community and Pastors from YBBA Churches attended the celebration.
