Dimapur, sept 11 (mexn): The Youth Employment Summit (YES) Campaign hosted its mid –campaign forum at Alexandria , Egypt from the 26th to the 30th of August 2007, five years after its launch in  2002. The mid-campaign was hosted by YES Egypt and under the mentorship of Dr.Ismail Serageldin, Director General, Bibliotica Alexandrina and former Vice President World Bank. 150 YES global youth leaders from 70 countries were led by  Poonam Ahluwalia, President YES Inc.

The YES 2007 as a mid campaign was planned to build and strengthen the capacity of the YES country networks, across the globe, to undertake in country youth employment projects and programs. The goal of the forum was to share good practices and foster synergies among the YES country networks. The deliberations and activities at the forum centered around three identified sectors namely, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT); integrated rural business; and youth employment and the role of social entrepreneurship. The forum also gave an opportunity to the YES family to come together to review measures, evaluate actions, and set more goals to meet; all under the umbrella of better livelihood for the world youth.

YES Nagaland Network was represented by Theja Meru, Sethrichem Sangtam and Hekani Jakhalu. In a press note from YouthNet, it was informed that YES Nagaland shared with other global youth leaders the ongoing district consultation on youth employment to reach out to every youth in the state which would help in youth policy and program formulation in the state. “It is pertinent to mention here that after attending the 3rd Global summit in Kenya in September 2006, the YES team has been relentlessly working to take this campaign forward in Nagaland”, YouthNet stated and informed that the State level consultation was held in April in Kohima under the joint chairmanship of the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary of Nagaland. This has been followed by district consultation hosted by local student union bodies. The first phase of 6 districts have been covered and remaining districts are to be covered by October 2007.
