YGBA demands deployment of workforce at CHC Shamator

Shamator, May 18 (MExN):  The Yimchunger GBs Association (YGBA) on Tuesday stated its support for the 14-day deadline issued by the civil society organizations of Shamator town with regard to the lack of adequate workforce in the Shamator Community Health Centre (CHC) despite its up-gradation since 2014.

In an open letter to the Principal Director, Health and Family Welfare Department Nagaland, the YGBA stated that “the lone CHC in the sub-division is skeletonized even after its up-gradation from PHC as many staff were either transferred out without their reliever or got attached elsewhere.” It also pointed out that many posts were lying vacant following the death of employees and are yet to be filled.

Further, the association underscored that Shamator town has a total of 12 COVID-19 positive cases as of May 18, “but not enough emergency safety measures provided by the authority like medicine stock, PPE kits, manpower, resources and other required facilities to contain the spread of the virus which has reached its community level.” While those cases were detected on May 14, primary contract tracing measures are also yet to be undertaken for identification and testing, thereby, the entire sub-division is exposed to virus and lives are being put under severe threat, it added.

As such, the association urged the Principal Director to immediately deploy required workforce and facilities that should have been made available at CHC Shamator within the timeframe set by the CSOs to tackle the surging COVID-19 cases under the sub-division on priority.
