Community conducts mass social work in local ground Wokha
Wokha, May 1 (MExN): A mass social work was conducted at local ground, Wokha under the theme ‘your waste is your responsibility’ on April 30.
It was organized by Tsumang 'B' Colony Eco Club (Ground Kup Sector), Wokha in collaboration with Lolo Ezung and Wokha YouTubers community and supported by Tsumang B’ Colony Council, Lotha Students Union, Chichamo Tsanglao, CAO Wokha, Dr Mhonchan Kithan, Zonal Leprosy Officer, Wokha and concern individuals.
In a press release by Yanrenthung J Humtsoe, it was stated that lately, littering had become a cause of concern in Wokha local ground. It is contaminated by waste like plastic bags and bottles, chips and sweet covers, cigarette butts, alcohol bottles and beer cans, beverage cans etc.
Additional Deputy Commissioner & Administration, Wokha Town Council, T Lankonsen Tsanglao who was also present at the event expressed gratitude to the participants. He also encouraged all citizens to develop a sense of responsibility and work together towards a better and clean Wokha. He assured all possible help to the public and NGOs towards making Wokha a clean and better environment.
Yisanbemo Humtsoe, organiser of event in his address expressed concern on the littered areas of Wokha local ground and urgently called for public participation and urged the citizens to develop a sense of cleanliness and not litter the places.
Meriyani C Humtsoe, Eco Club team leader also express her concern on the ugly scenario of improper waste disposal at Wokha local ground. She call upon all concern citizens to be responsible and working together making Wokha local ground a waste free.
The programme started with invocation by Tsalamo Humtsoe, Dobashi.
Mask, gloves and hand sanitizer were distributed to all the volunteers and strict COVID-19 safety norms were followed throughout the activity.
