Heal Dimapur prayer movement gears up to mark first anniversary

DIMAPUR, September 16 (MExN): The Heal Dimapur Prayer Movement completes one year on September 21, 2009. Set off by a group of young likeminded individuals to pray for the cleansing and spiritual healing of their beloved Dimapur from the evils plaguing it, the Movement is now more than 400 strong, encompassing prayer warriors from all Christian denominations.

Indeed, at the juncture that the society and the town are in, what can be more assuring than ardent prayer to the Almighty God? The movement draws inspiration from 2 Chronicles 17:14 – “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Marking its one year anniversary and to take pledge for the furthering of the Movement, a prayer service will be conducted on September 21 at the Town Baptist Church in Dimapur. Subong Jamir, director of YWAM (Youth With A Mission) will be leading the congregation. The core team of the Heal Dimapur Movement interacted with mediapersons at the Mirror Café on Tuesday. They include Lulu Kiso, Asin Liegise, Tali Angh, Dise, Visasier, Wabang Longchari and David Murry.

When the team was asked how fruitful the Movement has been so far, Visasier said with conviction in his words, “Overnight transformation will not occur; but if we pray we have to expect change.” He said that the goal is nothing short of a “social transformation”.

Stressing on spiritual healing, they said, “The thing we are doing is spiritual, we may not see immediate physical changes,” and that with faith it will happen. “We believe physical change will occur only after we take care of our spiritual well-being,” said Visasier. Researching and identifying the root cause of problems from the spiritual point of view will go a long way in bringing positive transformations in the life of the people, he reasoned.

As pledged since its inception, a prayer march will be organised at several points of the town on September 23, they informed. The march will start at Walford junction from 4:00pm, traversing through various points, and will culminate at the DC Court junction. The core team invited people, irrespective of denomination, who would like to commit to the movement. They also informed that they are planning to come up with a questionnaire called ‘Spiritual Map of Dimapur’ soon.
