YTC not to cooperate with NSCN (R)

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 22 (MExN): The Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC) has decided to extend non-cooperation to the NSCN (R) for an indefinite period. This was resolved in an emergency meeting held on August 22.

“The decision is necessitated by the failure of the NSCN/GPRN (R) in solving the public problem previously addressed to it vide Ref. No. YTC/PUB-REP/06/17-18, dated 14/07/17 and a correspondence letter conveyed to it by His Excellency the President NSCN/GPRN (R) vide Ref. No. Off/Lt-05/2017, dated 05/08/2017,” informed a press note from the YTC Presidnet, L Chuba and Vice President, Throngso Yimchunger.

The YTC informed that this decision shall be indefinite and enforceable until such time the matter addressed by the YTC is solved amicably. “During the pendency period, all sorts of movements, activities, functions and collections of the NSCN/GPRN (R) within Yimchungru Region are restricted,” it added.

The YTC acknowledged the NSCN (R) “as of the mandated institutions working tirelessly and honestly for the cause of the Nagas and shall always endeavour to extend its participation as one of the stakeholders as any other tribes of Nagaland.”   However, it lamented that the YTC is constrained to extend non cooperation “due to an undeniable fact that, with the problem unsolved at hands, it is technically and practically not feasible either to participate or to cooperate with the NSCN/GPRN (R) in a normal manner.”

It expressed hope that the NSCN (R) would “expedite the solution to the problem as addressed and thereby allows the Yimchungru Naga to participate in the NSCN/GPRN (R) vigorously, diligently, transparently, honestly and with fresh rays of hope.”
