YTC unhappy at TTC President’s ‘whims’

Dimapur, Jan 9 (MExN): The Yimchunger Tribal Council is unhappy at Tikhir Tribal Council President Khiapong for using, what the YTC said, his ‘whims to mislead not only the Tikhirs but the whole Naga society’.

A rejoinder issued by the YTC through its President Thsesong expressed unhappiness at what it stated the TTC’s President  dragging in the names of MLA 60 AlC, Luthong DB, Thsikiuio DB and Shenlithong, Supervisor and “many national workers as sponsoring or leading attacks on Kiusam town”. Terming it “disgusting” the rejoinder pointed out that the above mentioned persons have been tirelessly working as third party to calm the Shamator issue tension “as soon as possible and to live peacefully even in the ages to come.”

These persons organized a meeting including with the Tikhir-speaking families on January 3 at Pungro town, to negotiate through dialogue and peaceful means. It is also highly appreciable on the part of DC of Kiphire, Deputy Commandant and Assistant Commandant of VG, Kiphire who paid a timely visit to affected spots and normalized the situation. All these individuals deserve special thanks from both the warring groups. The administrative officer and other higher ups present in Pungro town are witness to this, YTC stated.

However, it is “very unbecoming and shameful” on the TTC President’s part “to defame the esteemed leaders and say exactly the opposite of what the above mentioned persons did.” “Every effect has a cause, and Mr. Khaipong too has un-erasable reasons behind his vain cry. Today, he is trying to be instrumental in order to save his skin for what he did yesterday. In fact, he is very flexible and unprincipled in nature. (To say wayward/refugee is pitiable). He actually belongs to Thokthsur village under Thonoknyu but expelled by the villagers due to reasons best known to him. Now, he is self-styled president but he himself is not sure of his village citizenship” it asserted.

The YTC also mentioned that the TTC President had filed his nomination to contest in the 2003 general election as a Yimchungru from 57 A/C but had to withdraw his nomination due “to his greediness” and “ironically, today he is dead against his father – Yimchungru”.
