JALUKIE, MARCH 11 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi, AMN and Zeliangrong Students’ Union, AZSU have strongly opposed the proposed creation of a separate full-fledged Jiribam District and opposing the granting of Sadar Hills full-fledged district status at the cost of Zeliangrong land. Any decision taken by the state authority should consult the concerned Zeliangrong people, said a press note from the two bodies.
“We do not oppose the creation of any district in Manipur state since creation of district is for the administrative conveniences. The proposed creation of a separate full-fledge Jiribam District and granting full-fledge Sadar Hills district should not be disturbed or carve out the land portion of Zeliangrong people,” it stated.
The two organizations urged the Government of Manipur “not to take any decision against the wish and interest of the Zeliangrong people,” and cautioned that “if the Government of Manipur goes against the wishes of our people we will initiate various democratic forms of protest and agitations.”
