Jalukie (MExn): Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament T.R. Zeliang today revealed that only 33% of the Central Fund was reaching farmers and that the rest 67% usually went missing.He said that this had created a wide gap between the farmer and the Goverment towards implementing projects.
Zeliang revealed this while addressing the inaugural function of the First Transaction on Maize Cultivation, held in collaboration with the APMC-PDN under the agricultural soft loan from SBI, Jalukie Branch. He urged upon the farmers to be aware of such anomalies and assured that he would personally investigate into the matter and see to it that such corruption is not repeated.
The MP also said that the working system of the VDB will be thoroughly investigated and if possible, a new working system will be adopted by October this year. Zeliang further revealed that all VDBs in Nagaland will be divided into two blocks - One headed by Member of Parliament Lok Sabha and another by him. He said that he would call for a meeting of all VDB secretaries by October this year and announced the details of the new mode of the working of VDBs in state. Besides, Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Alemtemshi Jamir also assured the farmers of Peren District that 15 water pumps would be issued to the APMC and UCOS of Peren District. He added that a poultry farm would be set up at the defunct Kansari Mill.
