Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): The two-day long “Luangdimai Conclave” (Zeliangrong Leaders Meet) concluded today with a solemn declaration to “retain the unity and oneness of Zeliangrong/Luangdimai people.”
The Conclave was organised by Luangdimai Citizens Forum (LCF) under the theme “At the Crossroads: Where Next,” at St. Paul Retreat House, Mantripukhri, Imphal, Manipur.
According to a press release by LCF Convenor, Rangro Herie, the conclave, among others solemnly declared that, “The Zeliangrong people are One People who are bounded by the indestructible bond of blood relationship.”
It, thus, unanimously decided to “uphold and support all the Zeliangrong frontal bodies in their endeavour towards maintaining and fostering Zeliangrong people as One Single Entity or ‘Tribe’. “
The Conclave condemned the “unilateral decision of the Tatar Hoho of the NSCN/GPRN for according separate recognition to the dialectal groups of the Zeliangrong people as Separate Tribes on 23rd March 2018.”
It further decided “to continue to actively involve and support the promotion of the Zeliangrong Common language i.e. Luangdilat” and “to engage Full Time social workers dedicated to serve the Zeliangrong/Luangdimai people.”
The Conclave also has resolved to “organize a grand ‘Makuiluangdi Festival’ in 2019 in collaboration with like-minded people.”
Meanwhile, the LCF deplored the alleged “unwarranted raid seemingly a calculated ploy to disturb the peaceful Conclave by Manipur Police Commando personnel on day-1 06.04.2018 at noon time” and urged the higher authority concerned to take up appropriate action against the erring police officials as per the law of the land.
Prominent persons from the community were the resource person at the Conclave.
