Zeliangrong orgs affirm to safeguard people and land

Appeals to ZUF and NSCN (IM) to exercise restraint

Jalukie, August 18 (MExN): The Zeliangrong frontal organizations have reiterated and affirmed their stand to defend and safeguard the people and the land in all fronts.

At a joint consultative meeting held on August 17 at Mhainamtsi village in Peren district, the organizations comprising Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN), Zeliangrong Baudi (N), Zeliangrong Mipui Organization, Zeliangrong Youth Front, Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland, Zeliang People Organization and all subordinate bodies had expressed deep concern at the plight of the people and their land.

“After hearing and reasoning on the aspect of the people’s present and future prompted by the current affairs, the Zeliangrong people reiterate and affirm its stand to defend and safeguard the people and the land in all fronts,” stated a press release from Media Cell of the joint consultative meeting.

While extending support to the progressive Indo-Naga political talks and anticipating early political solution honorable and acceptable to the Naga people, the meeting also asserted that the NSCN cadres and ZUF should maintain utmost restraint from creating unfavorable atmosphere at this crucial juncture.

The members present expressed displeasure and resentment over the present “undesirable development” taking place in Zeilad region, wherein ZUF and NSCN (IM) cadres are “confronting each other with gun-fight, creating fear psychosis and disturbances to the general populace.” The fact is unfortunate and regretted, the release stated.

Meanwhile, the house condemned the killing of Elimelech Gangmei on August 13, 2017 at Namdailong (Jiribam) allegedly by cadres of NSCN (IM) Zeilad Region. “The current confrontational scenario must be stopped instantly. The matter should be politically sorted out amicably. Violence and killing is not the option for any solution rather it breeds and begets reciprocally,” the Zeliangrong organizations urged.

The joint consultative meeting resolved to appeal both the groups to maintain needful understanding and exercise utmost restraint from confronting each other so peace and normalcy is restored.
