The Nagaland Minister for Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Jacob Zhimomi today urged the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) Chairman to appeal to his colleagues in Delhi and to the department of Economic Affairs to have an extra budget for the Scheduled Tribes (STs).

Zhimomi said this while launching of DICCI Nagaland Chapter at Hotel Acacia on Saturday. The DICCI is the apex body of SC/ST entrepreneurs in the country with 29 states and seven abroad chapters. Nagaland is the 29th chapter to be launched in the country.

He further noted that the SC/STs and OBCs have not seen the light of the day when compared to the other communities and appealed to the central government and the department of Economic Affairs to give special considerations to the northeast region, especially Nagaland.

“Why should we not get the schemes which are entitled for us?”  Zhimomi questioned.

Though Nagaland has the zeal, intellect as well as hardworking people, due to the socio-political issue and circumstances the state has to be given special attention, he reasoned.

Meanwhile, taking the opportunity of the presence of the DICCI representatives of India, Zhimomi appealed to DICCI to set up small-scale industries in the state to open doors for the youths as government was the only employer in the state.
He assured 100% support and cooperation from the government, the community, organisations and Churches.
"We do not have the capital although we have the resources and for which we need to work on,” he added.

DICCI founder chairman Milind Kamble (Padma Shree awardee 2013) said DICCI’s objective is to encourage business among SC/ST as there are no business leaders among the SC/ST community and creating financial support to the SC/ST.
“Working closely with the central government for the last 15 years we have reached fourth national level among the chamber of Commerce in the country,” he maintained.

"We will create pool of opportunities for the youth; find out schemes that the government provides direct subsidy for the youths and we will guide you,” he added.

DICCI working president, a Padma Shree awardee in 2014,  Ravi Kumar Narra in his address maintained that DICCI was a non-political organisation although it works closely with the government but without any political affiliation. He said its main aim was to promote support system for the people.

DICCI Nagaland coordinator Kathi Chishi said DICCI will be creating 200 entrepreneurs from Nagaland in the next two years under 'Startup India'.
