Dimapur, September 1 (MExN): Zeliangrong Heraka Youth Organisation Dimapur (ZHYOD) in coordination with Janjati Vikas Samiti Nagaland (JVSN) celebrated 86th Haipou Jadonang Martyrdom Day at JVSN complex, Signal Angami Bosti, Dimapur on August 29.
Raitu Elu, president, Zeme Council Northeast India was the chief guest and Hurui Zeliang, Patron ZHA was the guest speaker, Hurui Zeliang briefed the life history of Haipou Jadonang and his “extraordinary” power, according to a press release from Huzantadbo Meriam, president ZHYOD. He also urged the youth to value the struggle and sacrifice of the “great freedom fighter.” The youth were also asked to learn the rich culture and tradition of Nagas to enlighten their uniqueness to the world.
Meanwhile, Raitu Elu stated that Jadonang was a social and political leader who fought against British to free from forced labour, land tax, and “alien empire.” He appealed to the youth not to differentiate based on religions or his belongingness as Jadonang fought for his people (Nagas) and for Free Nation and not for any particular religion. Raitu further urged the youth to take social responsibility and be role models for young generation.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Kewichamlu Newmai, presidential address was given by Huzantadbo Meriam, president ZHYOD, vote of thanks was delivered by Kerankamle Chewang followed by congregational prayer.
