Peren, December 21 (MExN): While appreciating the recent up-gradation of administrative HQ of Jalukie from SDO (C) to ADC HQ and EAC Ahthibung to SDO (C) HQ, the Zeliang People’s Organisation (N) today placed before the Government of Nagaland another “genuine representation for immediate renovation, maintenance or up-gradation of Peren-Tening road.”
The road “is in dilapidated condition for many years lying unattended for more than 30 years by any government agency after its completion by BRTF in early 90’s,” stated a press release issued by ZPO (N) secretary, Kerang Dumtta and president, Kezin Zeliang on behalf of the people of Zeliang and Kuki communities of Peren district.
It maintained that there has been adverse impact on the economy of the area due to the bad road connectivity. The area otherwise is “blessed with abundant greenery, vegetables and other perishable items, which could not be marketed as the cost of transportation is too costly and are let to rot,” ZPO (N) pointed out.
Also, it was stated, brining essential commodities and building materials to the area is made more difficult with high transportation cost.
Therefore, ZPO (N) urged upon the department concerned and the Government of Nagaland to look into the plight of the people of the area as genuine, and initiate immediate remedial measures to ease the problem of transportation and communication for the people of Tening area.
In the press release, ZPO (N) had acknowledged that the up-gradation of Jalukie and Ahthibung administrative HQs will be the best Christmas gift ever for the people of Peren district. In “this time of joy and happiness,” the organization urged upon the real stakeholders to be more cooperative to the Government for better and smooth transition and functioning of the offices for the benefit and welfare of the people of the district. It expressed that there will be better administration in the district with the up-gradation.
